Project A work will build on the previously completed design work documented by others in the Procurement Ready Report (January 2020) and is being advanced as a Group ‘B’ undertaking following MTO’s Class EA for Provincial Transportation Facilities. For more information about the Class EA process, please refer to the Class EA section.

Project A includes the following key improvements to Highway 401:

  • Widening to a Six Lane Cross-Section

  • Median Storm Sewer

  • Concrete Median Barrier

  • Rehabilitations/Widenings of the Tremblay (Tilbury) Creek, Little Baptiste Creek and Baptiste Creek bridges

  • Noise Barrier (eastbound lanes in the vicinity of Queen Street)

  • Short duration intermittent nightly closures (2 nights per ramp) of the westbound Highway 401 ramps at Queens Line and the ONroute for concrete pavement retexturing

  • Five New Overhead Signs

A Design and Construction Report (DCR) will be prepared to document environmental impacts and mitigation measures and will be available for a 30-day public review period between February 20, 2021, and March 22, 2021.
